| Layoff Reason/What they tell you vs. truth. |
| I was recently laid off from a company I had worked at for 5 years. There had been some layoffs in the past 5 people then 14 about a year ago. They were looking at some really good prospects for new business that had the possibility of doubling the company.
I was laid off and taken to a room with my coordinators (my) boss(i did most of my communication to my coordinator). He said I was a very nice guy, and always did what I was asked and was always there when I was supposed to be(never had a sick day). During the termination proceedings I asked please tell me point blank, is this due to my preformance. They said no "its the times". During my packing ceremony I asked the HR manager... "I don't believe in the victim mentality". I'm sorry to put you on the spot, but could you please tell me soemthing about my seperation that will make me a better employer at my next job? He said "Everybody I talked to said you were a good guy, its just the times". I'm very confused because I don't belive this, but feel I need to learn something to improve myself or I'm bound to repeat the mistakes of the past. Can someone relate to these comments and tell me if they are textbook bullcrap layoff coments or should I just forget about it. Either way I'm searchign for a new job, just want to grow. |
