| There is a wonderfully unique book available, called "HELP for the LAID OFF", written by Mary Aucoin Kaarto during her second layoff many years ago. I've never read anything like it. In addition to providing solid, practical advice from marriage & family counselors, credit specialists and national recruitment firm Challenger, Grey & Christmas, she teaches the importance of asking God the hard questions and learning how to discern His purposes for this hard season of your life. As she asks, "Who are you going to trust - your NEXT employer - or your Divine Employer", it makes you wonder. Ch. 8, "Encourage Your Discouraged", is written to the family member or friend of someone who is laid off. She offers a reality-based challenge that I wish someone in my life would accept on my behalf and theirs. It sounds like it would help both of us. |
